This package provides a ready-to-use resource for training people who are involved in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). It is workshop based and focuses on attitudes to AAC and strategies used in AAC conversations. These priority areas have been highlighted by the many AAC users and their communication partners whom the authors have worked with. The package enables AAC users to be directly involved in training other people how to communicate with them.

The training described in the package is suitable for use with the following three groups working together:

Speech and language therapists and those others who are responsible for implementing the use of AAC systems.
One or more AAC users who are involved as co-trainers.
Several communication partners selected by trainers and co-trainers as those people most relevant to the AAC user/s.

This package can be used in a variety of possible settings including clinic, school, home, residential and day care. The book contains clear information on how to organise and run 2 workshops involving AAC users as co-trainers. There is also an accompanying video which contains clips to stimulate discussion and awareness. The package costs £35.25 (inclusive of VAT).
