Talking Mats Centre has spun out of the University and
has just been formed as a Social Enterprise - Talking
Mats Ltd.

We celebrated with 60 friends and colleagues
at a breakfast launch on Friday 23rd September.
Dr John Rogers, Director of Research and Enterprise,
said, "The University of Stirling is committed
to research excellence which makes a distinctive contribution
to Scotland's knowledge-based economy. We are delighted
to have supported the development of Talking Mats since
its early stages, and to see it mature into a vibrant
business delivering real benefit to people with communication

We are delighted with the success of our
first on-line training course with 14 successful candidates
and are running a second course starting at the beginning
of October and further courses in 2012. We are very
grateful to NHS Education Scotland for their support.

Measure
Joan is currently
working on an adapted version of the CARE Measure and
has just received funding from the Scottish Government
to investigate its feasibility with children and young
people.

China Trip
Joan and Sally
have just returned from their second visit to Shenyang
in the North East of China where they were working with
a rehab team in a large rehab hospital who are now using
Talking Mats for goal setting.
