Apart from the normal communication shifts with age, illnesses such as stroke and dementia can have a profound effect on the ability of the frail older person to understand, make decisions and communicate those decisions to others. To address the recognised communication difficulties that exist, it is vital that those who care for frail older people are creative in their approach and use a variety of supports. Talking Mats is a resource that can contribute to that process. This updated package contains the book 'Talking Mats : A Resource to Enhance Communication', the original Talking Mats & Frail Older People video which shows Talking Mats being used with three different frail older people, accompanying leaflet to the video and a set of starter symbols.
